Yummy Hair Galore – Vintage at Goodwood!

This weekend saw in the first EVER Vintage at Goodwood Festival (the uber cool brainchild of designer Wayne Hemingway) and of course Aussie and the Angels were there, to celebrate Yummy Hair!

On Saturday we took Angels Danni and Maria, Jenny and Lil down for a day of fashion, music, art, dancing, roller discoing, and of course – yummy hair spotting. We couldn’t have chosen a better event to find amazing hair – there was everything from victory rolls to Vegas showgirls, disco queens to 20’s darlings, and everything in between.

We’re all about making gals out there feel aussome, and what better way to do it than dish compliments on hair. Everyone at Vintage @ Goodwood had gone to great lengths too – it’s only right they should receive recognition for their efforts!

After a spot of lunch and a wander down the “high street”, the Angels got stuck in, each choosing their own particular trend or look to go for, and away they went to snap the Yummy Hair. Click here to check out which fab girls and hair Jenny found,  and keep your eyes peeled for Danni and Maria’s finds, and Lil’s too.

Our picks of the day are below – we were particularly loving the ‘40’s vibe, though the odd 60’s and 70’s ‘do’ slipped in there too! Vintage at Goodwood will be on again next year, and we highly recommend checking out it’s wares – if you were to go, which era would you choose, and how would you wear your hair? We’d love to hear your thoughts on what makes Yummy Hair, so comment away below…

And hey, even if you can’t make it to Vintage at Goodwood, just try having a Yummy Hair Day instead – we felt so great after doling out all the compliments that we went home feeling aussome about ourselves too – yay for Yummy Hair!

Aussie to the Rescue! London Part 2

If you haven’t already noticed, we’ve been rescuing Angels all over the country, and last night saw our second batch of London Angels join in the good times!

Held at the super hot De Montfort Suite within the Town Hall Hotel and Apartments, (seriously, this place was lush) the evening kicked off quickly, with our guests Fiona, Tor, Amie, Ellie, Amy, Hayley, Natalie and Christina (a last minute invitee who dropped her shopping basket in Tesco’s and hightailed it over in a flash!) already ramped and ready to go with what hair styles they were after and what “life situations” they had coming up where Aussie could save the day.

“There’s more to life than hair but it’s a good place to start” is our philosophy, and last night we were all over it – what with wedding season, birthday bashes and festivals around the corner, an Angel needs a little help so she can concentrate on the fun stuff!

At the beginning of the night, we asked the Angels to challenge the Aussie products in the styling range, and I think it’s safe to say that was certainly achieved!

Amy was first up, and Amber used our Aussie Aussome Volume mousse (worked through the roots) to tease and then backcomb Amy’s hair into the most gorgeous beehive to ever step foot out of the 60’s.

Curls were a big hit of the night, with Fi, Tor, Amie and Natalie all going for a beautiful wave and volume using Aussie Aussome Volume mousse and the Aussome Volume Gloss and Spray.

Plaits and fishtail plaits were also on the menu, with Hayley rocking the plaited hairline style, and Ellie receiving some mine hippy-esque fishtail plaits, which I really hope to see recreated as I had to be the model whilst she practiced!

It was truly another aussome evening – good drinks, great company and gorgeous hair – and the Angels left ready to take on the world and all the fab parties within it! Thanks to everyone who came along, and to check out more pics of the evening, click here.

Saturday’s Colourful Characters Party

Last Saturday saw the last of our Aussie Tribe parties for this year, and wow was it a finale! As the evening was for all the members of our Colour Mate Tribe (who need help to care for coloured hair)  we decided to theme the night around coloured hair icons, as many people dye their hair because they’ve been inspired by someone amazing (I know I go blonder and blonder thanks to Marylin!) So, the girls were asked to come dressed as their favourite coloured hair icon, and we provided the entertainment in the form of the most fabulous Lady Gaga and Beyonce impersonators that we’ve ever seen!

Once the party got under way and everyone had a coloured cocktail in hand, the lovely Aussie stylists Amber and Zara showed us a demo of how to do a fish plait – not only are they so hot right now, it’s a great way to do your hair in between salon visits, and best of all it doesn’t use heat styling, something that Coloured Haired girls should always try to minimize. The stylists had so many other useful tips too, such as zigzag your part if you can’t get to a salon and your regrowth’s out of control, and always see a salon rather than trying to go DIY – your hair will thank you for it!

Ling’s hair looked gorgeous when they had finished, and so did everyone else’s by the end of the night as everyone got the opportunity to have their hair styled, which was excellent for some as the rain had caught them on the way over!

Whilst this was happening, our two special guests introduced themselves and got to mingling. Both Gaga and Beyonce used the Aussie Colour Mate range as it’s peachy – perfect for coloured hair, and Beyonce particularly likes the 3Minute Miracle – who knew?

But if you think their hair was amazing, you should have seen their performance! Gaga was a beautiful singer (and the coke cans in her hair really didn’t move once!) and Beyonce’s booty shaking reached a whole new level.

Once they’d waved au revoir it was time for us to do the same, so the girls departed with their goodybags (complete with coloured wigs!) It was such an aussome night and so a big thankyou to everyone who came along. For more pics click here, and keep your eyes peeled for the Angels’ versions of the evening!

And Manchester discovers Aussome Volume…

That’s right, on Thursday night the Aussie team hightailed it up to Manchester to host the second of our Aussome Volume Tribe parties, this time held at Bluu Bar in the Northern Quarter. The evening was a chance for all the Northern members of the Aussome Volume Tribe to meet each other, learn about the Aussie Aussome Volume range plus put it to the test, and what better way than to host a 60’s party!

Once the buffet table had been thoroughly raided (mostly by yours truly!) and there were cocktails in hand, it was time for Amber and Zara our lovely Aussie stylists to talk about how to achieve volume and what products to use (The Aussome Volume range of course!)

Jennifer had been selected to be the hair model and her hair was set with hot rollers, before being shaken out to style her hair into gorgeous waves and curls. Our stylists had so many hints and tips for achieving volume, including leaning at a 45degree angle when blowdrying your own hair, working mousse through damp roots before blasting with a hairdryer, and spraying the Volume and Gloss hairspray on the roots before backcombing. There’s no excuse for us to have a flat hair day now, ever again…

Once the demo was over, Amber and Zara then got to work on everyone else, using the Aussome Volume mousse, Volume and Gloss spray and the Texturising and Conditioning gel to create height that we’ve only ever dreamed of! Liloo went for a brilliant half- beehive, Carla achieved a beautiful 60’s do and Jenn managed what looked like a completely new haircut!

Whilst the Aussome hairstyling was in action, the talented Shola Kaye took to the, er, carpet, and performed the first set of early Motown hits, before hitting the floor again; this time armed with extra microphones. Lyrics were dotted about the room which meant the Angels had no escape, not that they wanted any when they realised how much fun it was!

Throughout the night the Angels and guests were asked to write down their hair tips and pop them in our Aussie Style Tip Boxes, because at the end of all our Tribe parties we’ll be putting together a Style Bible with all the tips, to send to our Angels.

Before we knew it the evening had come to an end, and, with high hair and high spirits, the Angels left the party armed with goodybags full of products they could use to recreate their look at home.

Thanks to all who came along;  it was so great to see everyone together to celebrate Aussie and the 60’s!  To check out more pics of our Aussome Volume Tribe night, just click here.

Yummy Hair Days @ Lovebox

Have you got Yummy Hair? Then why not celebrate it?? That’s what we set out to do when we took our lovely Angels Sherin, Fiona and Reena to London’s Lovebox Festival last Sunday. We here at Aussie love making girls feel good about themselves, because sometimes it can be hard looking this good and you deserve a little recognition for your efforts!

Everyone enjoys receiving a compliment, and it’s just as much fun giving one, so we spent the day doing just that – hunting down gals with gorgeous hair and letting them know how much we loved their barnets!

Top knots, hot crops and va va volume were the order of the day, and despite the windy weather our festival goer’s still managed to get it right time and time again. Check out some of my top picks from the day below, and let me know what you what you consider to be Yummy Hair – is it great colour you rate, or cut or style? And how does it affect you when you’re having a Yummy Hair Day? I for one feel so much more confident when my hair is behaving itself, but I don’t want to leave the house if it’s not! We’d love to hear how you feel, so get commenting…

Cool hat and hot hair - definitely a Luscious Long lady

Perfecting the top knot - a little Hi Shine hairspray goes a long way!

As we cruised about, catching sun and catching bands, we couldn’t help but constantly scan the crowds as everywhere you looked was girls with Yummy Hair!

The 'A' Team

Aussie Angels Reena, Sherin and Fi

Overall we had so much fun, and we highly recommend trying it yourself sometime – scouting for great hair is seriously addictive, and you’ll absolutely make someone’s day!

Hmm, do they use Aussome Volume or Colour Mate??

My favourite of the day - such a gorgeous red! I know which tribe she belongs to...

Thanks to Reena, Sherin and Fi for joining us on this mission to spread the Aussie Love, take a look here for who Sherin found having a #YummyHairDay, here for more pics of the day, and don’t forget to Tweet me @YummyHair if you have one yourself!!

Happy hair hunting :  )
